Established in 2016, the Nebraska Country School Association was created to bring together a collective of people that are actively involved or interested in the structural and historical preservation of country schools in Nebraska and the Midwest.

Our Mission

To work with and provide information for individuals and organizations who are actively involved in or related to the ongoing preservation of country schools and their histories in the State of Nebraska.

We want to honor and preserve the legacy of the One Room School in Nebraska where scores of children were taught the "3 R's", reading, writing and arithmetic, and given the opportunity to learn and create a better way of life.

Peru State College was proud to host the first Nebraska Country School Conference. As Nebraska’s first college, Peru State has prepared thousands of teachers, many who served in one room schools. It was a priviledge to honor Nebraska’s teachers and their legacy.
— Dan Hanson, Peru State College President
